Care workers and healthcare assistants are responsible for meeting the requirements of the clients in a way that respects them as an individual and promotes their independence.
The support will be no different to what would reasonably be given by a member of the person's family.
The qualities we are looking for in our carers are;
- Empathy and compassion for service users
- Self-motivated and well organised
- Emotionally intelligent
- Great communication and interpersonal skills (ability to speak English at least at level B1)
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and dignity
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks that involve lifting or standing for long periods
- The ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing situations
- Attention to detail, particularly in following care plans and recording information
- Teamwork and the ability to collaborate with healthcare professionals
Qualifications
- No formal qualifications are typically required as training is provided; however, its preferable if candidates with:
- GCSE's or equivalent qualifications.
- Relevant experience in a care/healthcare environment.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
- Basic first aid and manual handling training are advantageous.
Working Conditions
- Flexible shift work including nights, weekends and public holidays, may be required.
- Work is primarily in service user's home's, may include assisted living and care home sites.
- Exposure to challenging situations, such as dealing with seriously ill or distressed patients.
